HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME! Another Year Old...One Foot In The Grave! Literally!

Happy Birthday to ME!! Today I turn another year older! I keep inching closer to 40 and I feel it in these old bones. 40 sounds old! I now understand the meaning of that saying...

ONE FOOT IN THE GRAVE...LOL!

But you know what? 40 is the new 21! 40, 50, 60, no matter the age I will rock it! That's what FABULOUS people do! And as we all know I A.M. F.A.B.U.L.O.U.S.!

Inching closer to 40 has me thinking. I need to stop playing around and jump start my weight loss. By the time I reach my 40th birthday I want to hit my goal and be the epitome of...
FABULOUS AT 40!

Uh Ohhhhhhhhh...I smell a challenge coming on! I need to sleep on it... more details to come!

Last Saturday's weigh results, -.6, the equivalent to a tube of toothpaste. Not bad, I lost a tube of toothpaste.   A loss is a loss no matter how big or small. And you know what? All of those small losses add up!

So what's in store for this week? MY BIRTHDAY!  AND I PLAN TO GET MY PARTY ON!

Remember ME!?!

Feels exhilarating sitting in front of my laptop blogging. I decided to channel my inner Carrie Bradshaw by sitting my busy self down long enough to share my thoughts. Why the Sex and the City (SATC) reference...I recently purchased seasons 2, 3, 4, 5, and the other half of season 6 for $49 bucks at a going out of business sale. So, last week I lulled myself to sleep every night while watching season 4. I puffy heart SATC and I am anxiously awaiting the movie this summer!

Okay, so back to blogging...where do I start? How about a recap of the events distracting me from blogging? As usual I spent some time socializing with my crew from work:
Still keeping my healthy lifestyle in mind, I ate one of everything, maybe two and felt satisfied. On my weight loss quest, I learned I can still attend happy hour and lose weight. I keep a few handy pointers in mind:
  1. Watch portion sizes, which is why I only ate one or two of each appetizer purchased.
  2. Avoid sugary alcoholic beverages. Instead choose a lighter version of your favorite happy hour elixir.
  3. For a planned happy hour, I tend to conserve my WW points and eat lighter throughout the day.
Next...let me update you on the status of my C25K training. I am in the process of completing Week 8, and then I move on to Week 9...the final week. What's next after Week 9 you ask? Well, you will need to come back to my blog and find out.

Let me introduce you to my running partner. Behold...the Polar F6 Fitness Monitor.

My mom purchased the monitor for me as a reward for losing 50 lbs and I LOVE it! While jogging I keep track of calories burned, as well as my heart rate. I try to keep my heart rate in the maximum fat burning zone. I frequently wear the monitor during the day while at work. After a long exhausting day, I sometimes fall asleep on the couch watching TV while wearing the fitness monitor. The next day I wake up to over 2500 calories burned.

Other blogging distractions include my kid's extracurricular activities. One day out of the blue, my youngest decides he wants to run track. So, once a week we attend his track meets which start at 4:30 PM and end around 8:30 PM. The bus usually returns to campus after 9:00 PM...talk about a long day.

Yes, that's me yelling GO, GO, GO, GO...LOL! I laugh every time I hear it!

Lately it seems as though we also spend most of our time at the dance studio. For the first time in a long time, the boys (whom I refer to as TURBO and OZONE) finally found something they love,  and they BOTH decided to stick with IT. This summer marks their second year with the company. You can find us at the studio 3, sometimes 4 times during the week and on Saturdays.

This past week my oldest performed with the crew on Thursday, Friday, Saturday AND Sunday. The double booked crew performed twice on Friday and Saturday. Needless to say, I look forward to next weekend when I can  hang up my TAXI driver hat, and actually get some rest.

Here's a video of the kids free-stylin at the studio. BB Dom Bomb is the one in the turquoise tee and black sweats. BB Real Lil is the one in the jeans, FLY tee, and red & black Vans:

Well here's to another busy week which includes a birthday celebration from my oldest...he is 16 going on 17 (remember that song from the Sound of Music).

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Me So Hongry!

Happy birthday to my blog, Me So Hongry...The Misadventures of a Weight Watchers Repeat Offender! Or as my friend Ree Ree put it...Happy AnniBLOGary! For those of you who know me, can you believe I actually stuck with something for a whole year (hypothetical question, so no responses please...lol).

So, in honor of my AnniBLOGary, we threw a lil shindig! Take a peek:
For those of you just beginning and you seasoned bloggers, I discovered some good things about  and some not-so-good things about blogging. The good thing...meeting fascinating people who provide the best weight loss suggestions and ideas. Like my friend Nemo TJ who shared a fabulous recipe for a 2 point margarita. Uh uh TJ, I opened my big mouth,  now you must post the margarita recipe.

I appreciate those of you who took me under your proverbial wing and assisted me with blog design and various weight loss dilemmas. O, and did I mention the perks of blogging? Perks as in awards and recognition, such as being named SITS Featured Blogger of the Day. Yes, I started blogging for myself, but the awards and recognition make the hard work and dedication I pour into my blog worth the effort.

Now for the not-so-good things...finding time to blog, responding to comments, and reading the blogs of others. Most of the time I feel super guilty for not reading your blogs. The problem....so many darn good blogs, so little time.

Now about my response to comments...trust me when I say, I read each and every comment! I appreciate the insightful, and sometimes humorous comments.  Believe it or not, your comments often pull me back from the brink of self-destruction or throwing in the towel as I struggle to lose weight.

Well, I hope you  enjoy reading this blog as much as I enjoy writing it. And in closing...

I want to thank the blog pioneers, in my life who encouraged me to start Me So  Hongry. So Ivy and Reiko...THANKS! To my blog friends and family, thanks for the continued support and the inspiration to write.

THANK YOU FOR BEING A FRIEND!

I interrupt the regularly scheduled blog. . .

I know I promised to mention an NSV experienced at the doctor's office, but I rather tell you about a wonderful opportunity I received as a birthday gift (Thanks Mom). I received 3 Personal Fitness Instruction (PFI) sessions which include the following:
  • Overhead squat assessments
  • Postural analysis
  • Myofascial Release (Self massage of tight
    and sore muscles)
  • Introduction to Flexibility
  • Introduction to Power Plate training
  • Initial Total Body Workout
  • Body composition and measurements
  • Motivation and commitment strategies
  • Nutritional support
The PFI sessions allows the trainer to customize a safe and effective fitness program tailored specifically towards me and my wellness goals!

Equally exciting, the wellness center and spa offers a 12 week program for treating chronic illnesses or reducing the risk of serious health conditions, such as obesity/overweight. And check this out, my health insurance may cover the 12 week program! I plan to call first thing in the morn to schedule my PFI sessions and to inquire about the 12 week program!

It's about to be on like Donkey Kong!

On like Donkey Kong: meaning something is about to go down that you're pumped up for.

E - I - E - I - O No . . . My Birthday on the Farm!

So Wednesday, November 4th, I celebrated my 36th birthday. The day started with a birthday surprise from my Mom. I thought she decided to deliver some birthday treats, even though we never decided on a cookies or a cake. When she arrived she opened the backseat door and removed this skirt.
If you remember from my Halloween post my Mom made her own 50's inspired skirt. After seeing her skirt I requested a poodle skirt for our 50th Day of School Celebration. In honor of the 50th day of school, the Kinder team decided to pay  homage to the 50's...THANKS MOM! That's not the E-I-E-I-O no part.

After receiving my skirt, I dressed for work and departed looking forward to visiting Old Mac Donald's Farm, our first field trip of the year. The Kinder team decided to rock overalls for the excursion.

Here comes the E-I-E-I-O no part. First of all, one of the buses arrived late and our estimated time of departure changed from 8:30 A.M. to around 8:55 A.M. So, we hit the open road and found ourselves LOST! Yes, lost! Finally we arrived to the farm around 10:20 A.M. We lost an hour of fun.

SILVER LINING: When the students spotted the farm they cheered in delight. I think the students sensed our agitation as the bus drivers aimlessly wandered the freeways.

Upon arrival, yours truly looked forward to eating lunch, but we decided to let the students terrorize and feed the animals first. Then FINALLY, feeding time for the humans. While everyone else ran to the concession stand, I made this bad boy: sandwich thins with deli sliced roast beef, hoity toity mustard, and baked Cheetos.

So here's the E-I-E-I-O no...I feared for my life as I ate my sandwich while battling what seemed like a swarm of killer bees. No silver lining.

After two long hours we FINALLY boarded the bus to return to school. As we reached our final destination I noticed my throat felt scratchy and I got that E-I-E-I-O NO vibe again. I thought to myself...Self, that would suck more than anything to get sick on your birthday. By the time I packed my bag to go home, some nasty bug completed the invasion of my body.

SILVER LINING: I stayed home from work, sick I might add, and slept all day.

So needless to say ALL birthday celebrations remain canceled until my body resumes all natural functions, specifically, BREATHING: NO annual birthday dinner with my Mom and my boys, NO annual birthday happy hour with my girls, and NO dinner date with GIFGOW.

SILVER LINING: Me and GIFGOW celebrated his birthday Monday and I helped him eat this.

O, and I felt not one shred of remorse as I ate some of his dessert. And I still feel nothing. Perhaps I gained .8 this week thanks to this decadent delight. Who cares? Truth be told I would eat this again.

SILVER LINING: This .8 gain means nothing, compared to the NSV experienced at the doctor's office. Tune in to tomorrow's post for more details.
